Police recover arms and stolen animals

MASERU – The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) this week released a report on the success of two of its main operations during the festive season.
Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Kabelo Halahala hailed the success of at a media briefing on Tuesday this week. One of the successful operations, branded Operation Pholoso, was conducted by the Patrol Services Unit and the Special Operations Unit.
The two units, in unison and separately, successfully confiscated four firearms and 18 bullets. He added that through the static points at Ha ‘Mantshebo, Marabeng, Sehlabeng, and St. Micheal police were able to recover 12 animals, namely; four cows, and eight sheep.
Further, the operation led to the apprehension of four suspects for the illegal sale of alcohol, two of whom are from Ha Lesia while the other two are from Ha Thetsane and Ha Ratjomose, respectively. There was also an arrest made when one person was found in possession of counterfeit currency amounting to M600.00.
On top of that, the units were able to apprehend 18 wanted suspects most of whom are facing sexual assault charges.
