QACHA’S NEK – In a heart-warming gesture of appreciation, Econet Telecom Lesotho, through its Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS) division, handed over the first of three brand new Nissan NP200 cars to a lucky winner as part of the ongoing EcoCash Tobetsa Campaign in Qacha’s Nek.
The ceremony, held last Friday, marked a significant moment for the winner, Tšoanelo Mongali, a local resident who has been a dedicated user of EcoCash services.
Mongali, who hails from Qacha’s Nek, was overjoyed to receive the keys to his new NP200 car. He shared that his use of EcoCash was mainly for free merchant transactions and purchasing calling bundles, never expecting that such routine transactions would lead to such a grand prize.
“I do not think I spent more than M500 on these transactions,” he said. He encouraged fellow Basotho to embrace EcoCash for their financial transactions, highlighting the convenience and reliability of the service.
“As Basotho, we often doubt the reality of such campaigns, thinking they only benefit those in Maseru. But today, I am living proof that Econet’s reach extends to all 10 districts, rewarding loyal customers wherever they are,” Mongali said, still in disbelief about his fortune.
He expressed his gratitude for the support of his family, who stood by him even when he doubted the possibility of such a win. “Owning this car will make a significant difference in my daily life and my side hustles,” he added with a smile.
Speaking on behalf of Sasai Econet Financial Services, Nhlapo Ketja highlighted the significance of this prize, noting that Mongali is the first to receive the NP200 car since the EcoCash Tobetsa campaign began in May. He announced that two more winners would be awarded the same prize by the end of August and September.
“This initiative is our way of giving back to our customers,” Ketja explained. “Our products, like EcoCash, have already improved lives by providing convenient services that allow customers to send and receive money from the comfort of their homes or wherever they are. This campaign is another step in showing our appreciation.”
Ketja also outlined the weekly prizes available through the campaign, with winners receiving cash prizes ranging from M1,000 to M15,000. At the end of each month, these prizes are doubled, adding even more excitement for participants. However, Ketja issued a stern warning about fraudulent schemes falsely claiming to offer similar rewards.
“Econet does not ask for money from winners. If anyone encounters such a scam, they should report it to us or the police immediately,” he advised.
In addition to the grand prize, other consumers during the campaign walked away with airtime, Econet Prime Phones, and cash prizes ranging from M500 to M1,070, further illustrating Econet’s commitment to rewarding its customers.
This campaign is more than just a competition; it is a testament to Econet’s dedication to its customers, ensuring that their loyalty is recognised and celebrated across all corners of Lesotho.
