Jubilations as VPL dishes accolades

MASERU – Mojalefa Lephole Hall became a scene of celebration as the Vodacom Premier League (VPL) held its prestigious 2024/25 End Season Awards last week.

The ceremony, more than just a simple trophy presentation, served as a vibrant testament to the growth and exciting talent within Lesotho’s top-flight football competition.

Lioli FC capped off remarkable season by claiming both the championship and numerous individual accolades added to the jubilation.

Lioli FC’s dominance was undeniable, as midfielder Sihle Maso took home both the coveted Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

Maso’s consistent brilliance and key contributions throughout the campaign earned him widespread recognition.

Lioli’s goalkeeper, William Huni, also earned a well-deserved recognition – Goalkeeper of the Season.

The accolades extended beyond the field, with coach Motheo Mohapi honored for Coach of the Season.

His tactical intelligence and leadership were crucial to Lioli FC’S success. Young talent also shone through as Leluma Mofoka took Young Player of the Season position, highlighting the league’s growing pool of promising future stars.

Charlie Hlalele’s midfield mastery earned him the Midfielder of the Season award, while Mphale Mphalaole’s impressive defensive performances secured the Defender of the Season award.

The night also recognised the crucial role of the officiating team. Moeketsi Ntoa was named Referee of the Season and Tšepo Majara as Assistant Referee of the Season, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to fair play.

Perhaps the most significant highlight of the evening was the announcement of award winners.

However, Lioli FC’s victory in the Vodacom Premier League championship was also a cause for immense celebration – the resounding triumph, coupled with their dominance in the 2024/25 season.

The team’s dedication and exceptional performances throughout the season were clearly evident, making the awards ceremony a fitting culmination of their successful year.
