Foreign judges to arrive soon
MASERU – The acting registrar of the High Court and Court of Appeal is preparing for the arrival of foreign judges engaged to preside over high profile cases against members of state security organs.
This emerged during a case in which five members of LDF are charged with three counts of murder that allegedly occurred in Mafeteng seven years ago.
Advocate Tsebiso Fuma for the Crown yesterday informed Acting Justice Polo Banyane about the preparations which are underway.
Fuma therefore requested a postponement of the matter until June 1 for further updates.
The accused appeared in court after the Constitutional Court earlier this month dismissed their application that challenged the appointment of a foreign Judge to hear their case.
Captain Litekanyo Nyakane, Lance Corporal Khauhelo Makoae, Lance Corporal Sebilo Sebilo, Privates Ts’epo Tlhakeli and Thebe Ts’epe are charged with the murders of Thabang Mosole, Monyane Matsie and Pakiso Ntala Letatabe in Ha Motanyane, Mafeteng on April 7, 2012.
The accused who were remanded in custody are represented by King’s Counsel Motiea Teele along with Advocates ’Maletsatsi Kao and Napo Mafaesa.
