LEC opens state-of-the-art office block
KABELO MASOABI
LERIBE – Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) yesterday opened a M20 million worth state-of-the-art office block in Hlotse.
The building, according to LEC acting managing director Leketekete Ketso was constructed through a loan provided by Nedbank Lesotho.
Plans to construct the building went as far back as 2011 but Ketso attributed the delay in construction to factors including among others lack of funds.
The double story building which comprises five units and other structural components was constructed by Bafani Construction Architects and New Studio Dimension Engineers with sub-contractors given a share of the tendered job.
The minister of energy and meteorology Tsukutlane Au applauded LEC for recognising local contractors and awarding work on the project.
Au said the local constructors have proved beyond reasonable doubt that they are capable of erecting wold-class architectural structures in Lesotho.
The chairman of the LEC board, Refiloe Matekane emphasised the importance of a good service delivery from LEC staff to clients.
“Our role as the board is to oversee the administration of the company and I must say we see a lot of progress. The beauty of this building must equal a satisfying service provided,” Matekane said.
LEC regional manager in the northern region Ts’umane Rapapa, promised the Leribe office would serve the population in the part of the country to the best of its ability and collect proportionate revenue in the process.
