Justice Ramodibedi passes on

MASERU – Former Court of Appeal president Mathealira Justice Ramodibedi (74) has died.
According to reports, he passed on yesterday, after battling a terminal illness.
Although the family has confirmed his passing details further information will be given later.
Ramodibeli joined the High Court bench in 1986. In 2000 was appointed Acting Judge of the Court of Appeal of Lesotho before he was confirmed as a full member of the bench in 2002.
He was also appointed president of the Court of Appeal of Seychelles in 2004 but resigned in 2006.
In 2006 Ramodibedi joined Botswana’s Court of Appeal and the same year became acting judge in Swaziland (now known as Eswatini) Court of Appeal before he was appointed acting Chief Justice in the same country four years later until he was fired in 2015.
As Appeal Court President, Justice Ramodibedi engaged in a tug-of-war with then Chief Justice Mahapela Lehohla over seniority for years.
