Woman nabbed for hiding birth

LERIBE – ’Mapulane Mots’oari, 33, from Ha Malefane, Ha Seetsa was taken before court on September 25 for hiding the birth of a child.
Police reports show that a 47-year old woman from the same village noticed that ’Mapulane was no longer pregnant yet with no child.
She notified other villagers who came find a child already dead concealed in a tin container.
Police was informed.
Upon questioning the suspect said she had concealed the birth because the child did not belong to her husband who is in the mines in South Africa.
She appeared before the Leribe Magistrate Court on September 25 where she was offered bail of M500 which she raised.
She is expected before court again on October 8.
