Robbery suspects caught

MAFETENG – Bataung Ranyali, 26, from Ha-Pita along with 33-year-old Karabo Wesi from Motse-Mocha, Ts’enola appeared before the Mafeteng magistrate court accused of carrying out a robbery on October 28, deputy police spokesperson Segeant ’Mareabetsoe Mofoka told a media gathering yesterday.
The two men were released and ordered to report at the Thamae Police station every Friday until they re-appear in court on November 14.
“These are the two men among others who escape after robbing a vehicle which was in the process of delivering the garage money to the bank on October 28. The men disarmed guards and managed to steal more than M310 000,” he said.
No one was seriously seriously in the incident.
In the same district, a 23-year-old man was arrested on October 11 for allegedly raping his 17-year-old niece. He appeared before the magistrate court on Monday.
According to Mofoka, the suspect arrived late at the victim’s home where she was sleeping alone and asked her to opened the door after which he told the victim he was going to sleep over but she refused to allow him to sleep over. She tried to resist her uncle but he locked the door and forced himself on her.
The girl fought and escaped. She ran to her aunt to report the matter and ask other villagers for help. He was caught and handed over to the police.
