Econet bring early Xmas cheer to orphans

MASERU – In extending a helping hand to the needy and celebrating the Christmas holidays, Econet Telecom Lesotho handed over groceries, 10 single beds and 10 matresses and lunch served by the Econet staff to the God’s Love Orphanage Centre located at Sekamaneng 20 minutes from the Maseru city centre on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

Lebohang Ramaisa, on behalf of Econet, said it is their norm as a company to celebrate and give to orphans and the needy during this time of the year.

“Our biggest pride is the ability to change the lives of others and empower people to transform their own lives through and amongst others the numerous initiatives under the random acts of kindness campaign,” Ramaisa said.

Ramaisa further said they are not only donating food to children, but are also working hand in hand with the ministry of social development to educate orphans and vulnerable children from secondary schools to tertiary and more as a way of giving back to the community.

Receiving the gifts on behalf of the kids, the God’s Love overseer Neo Motantsi thanked Econet and its employees for meeting their needs for the third time.

Motantsi stated God’s Love the Orphanage has 32 children whose ages ranges from two to 22-years and she has been doing well with children through the support of donors that include Econet.

“In 2017, Econet donated blankets to us at a time when the winter was biting. Again in 2018, Econet gave us the Kwese dish through which our children are able to watch various channels for education and entertainment and then here they are today making an early Christmas for us with food and beds and we are very grateful.”

Motantsi said it is very heartwarming that Econet never forgets children who need help and concluded by pleading with Basotho to support Econet as it is fast and always reliable in terms of services.

In his remarks, Principal Secretary of Social Development, Mole Khumalo said the work done by Econet to improve the lives of children was great.

He also thanked Motantsi for her generosity in taking care of the young ones.

“This is not an easy job and it takes only a good heart of a woman to raise children from different families with different characters,” Khumalo said adding such a responsibility is only done by people who are called to serve.

He urged Motantsi to continue taking good care of the children.

“It is my wish that the government can select orphanages and vulnerable children and their needs just like Econet is doing and give a helping hand. We should also take full responsibility of vulnerable orphanages as the government,” he noted.
