MASERU – Stock theft seems to be increasing at a higher rate, however the Lesotho Mounted Police Services is working hard to find stolen animals and punish offenders.
Sub-Inspector Mareabetsoe Mofoka told Public Eye that last week 12 incidents were reported countrywide leading to the arrest of three suspects so far as police continue to investigate all the cases.
Mofoka said over the past week animals that were reported stolen include; one cow, two horses, one donkey, and 82 sheep. In the same period, the following animals were recovered; 15 cows, 3 donkeys, 53 sheep and two goats of which the owners of seven cows, one donkey and five sheep are yet to be identified.
