Another hard lockdown feared
MAMELLO SEBATANE
Maseru – As COVID-19 infections continue to shoot up and fears escalate, speculation is rife that Lesotho could revert to stricter restrictions potentially, if not a total lockdown. This follows a tweet by Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro indicating that Cabinet will today meet and review the current situation and give direction.
Majoro’s tweeter thread reads: “Although we moved to purple restrictions on Sunday, indications are that infections continue unabated. Cabinet will meet today to review the situation and give direction.”
A stickler for rules, Majoro on Sunday reiterated WHO head Dr Tedros’ mantra: “We’re asking everyone to treat the decisions about where they go, what they do, who they meet, as life-and-death decisions – because they are”.
Meanwhile in the region, in an attempt to mitigate the spread of the virus, Botswana has remains lock out from the rest of the world regulations, while Zimbabwe has imposed a fresh 30-day lockdown.
