Maseru- The Lesotho Council of Churches (LCC) has urged Basotho to embark on a week of prayer and fasting to plead with the Almighty to intervene in the prevailing situation of Covid-19 devastation, and renew the nation’s covenant with God.

In an interview last night, LCC’s public relations officer, Rev. Thomas Lebiletsa, told Public Eye it was time the nation went back on its knees to plead for God’s mercy.

He said through a week of prayer and fasting, Christians should pray for national unity and unity among churches in particular.

“Lesotho is a covenant nation and we should try by all means to pursue and revive our covenant with God, while re-building unity and peace in the country, which our beautiful country’s founding father, Morena Moshoeshoe 1 strongly advocated,” said Rev Lebiletsa.

The week of prayer and fasting is open to all Christian believers regardless of their denominational differences.

Lesotho is a predominantly Christian nation.

LCC said the prayer and fasting week is scheduled to commence tomorrow, 11 January, 2021, until 18 January, 2021.
