LMPS, SA police team up to recover drowned bodies

Maseru – Many Basotho have since the beginning of this month been using illegal routes to gain entry into South Africa and an unknown number of has drowned across Lesotho.

The Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) has teamed up with the South African Police Services (SAPS) to recover bodies of both Basotho and South African nationals who have drowned in past weeks.

LMPS spokesperson Mpiti Mopeli said the two parties met yesterday to discuss developments of the campaign that started late last month.

“We are working closely with the SAPS to retrieve bodies from different areas of entry that both Basotho and South African are using in and out of Lesotho,” he said.

He further disclosed that over 10 bodies had been retrieved so far since they started working on the campaign.
