Thaba Tseka – A farmer from Thaba Putsoa, Thaba Tseka reportedly lost 20 head of cattle to cattle rustlers yesterday.

In an interview, Bakoena Makhetha, the affected Thaba Tseka farmer, told Public Eye today that it was around 7 pm when his herd boys told him the cattle were missing.

“Apparently the cows were stolen earlier yesterday but the herd boys could not tell me because they were scared and tried to find the cows themselves. It was only later that day when they discovered that there was nothing they could do and they had to inform me about the matter,” he said.

Makhetha said after spreading the word on social media and to some people in the village, he was told that the cows could be in the other village and they are still investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, stock theft seems to be continuing in the country, especially in the highlands of Lesotho where most animals are stolen and taken to the neighbouring South Africa.

Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, however, said he had not yet received the report.
