Mohapi sets three months’ target
…as he aims to transform football administration
TEBOHO JAFETA
MASERU – Following a week long Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) General Secretaries Academy administration course attended in Mozambique, Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) Secretary General, Mokhosi Mohapi, has set three months to transform the local football administration.
Mohapi, who received a UEFA Administration certificate last week, told this publication that he is going to review the administration of local football and change several things for the benefit of the football fraternity.
“I am going to change the way our football administration is handled. Give me until August. I have already started with some changes in LeFA administration on Monday upon my arrival from Mozambique,” he said.
He further mentioned that the course, which was attended by 24 participants from the entire African continent with about eight from the Southern Africa region, covered governance, communication and finance among other aspects.
Mohapi added that even though this was his first UEFA course, it was his second time studying football administration as he has pursued a one-year Post Degree certificate with FIFA before.
The General Secretary Academy addresses practical issues faced by general secretaries in their daily work. The course is supported by leading professionals in the football industry and former general secretaries of UEFA’s member associations.
The week-long programme provides a platform for participants to discuss current and future challenges faced by football associations and share best practices.
The programme is designed for general secretaries and provides them with essential knowledge, tools and networks needed to successfully and strategically manage football associations. The course was fully sponsored by UEFA with a sum of €10,000 per participant.
