Man runs illegal vehicle registration service

MASERU – A 30-year-old man from Semphetenyane was arrested last week and is in police custody for illegally running a service of issuing official documents.
Police said that the man was found in possession of license disks, clearance documents that are usually issued by Interpol, letterheads for different companies and offices, and a number of computerized stamps.
It is alleged that the suspect has been illegally assisting his clients to register vehicles in Lesotho. He will appear in court after further investigations. Meanwhile, a 49-year-old man appeared before the Maseru Magistrate courts on last Friday for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter.
According to police reports, the victim said this happened numerous times but could not tell anyone about it because the father threatened to kill her.
The man, who is said to be a civil servant at the Traffic Department paid M1 000 bail and a surety deposit of M10 000 while awaiting trial.
