She Hive to host fundraising picnic

MASERU – As a way of raising funds for widows and widowers, She Hive will host a fundraising picnic on June 26 at its premises in Lower Thetsane.

She Hive Association is a non-governmental organisations that seeks to create awareness while advocating and disseminating information towards the elimination of all discrimination and violence against women and children.

With the prevalence of gender-based violence in the country, the association deemed it necessary to combat it by lobbying and advocating empowerment of survivors and those affected by it by providing them with psychosocial support and ensuring that they are able to sustain the aftermath of abuse.

The association advocates for women empowerment and gender equality. 

International Widows Day (23rd June) is therefore a day that She Hive Association recognizes and celebrates. 

“The stigma that is aligned with being a widow is the one we would like to do away with; let widows/widowers all over the world know that they matter and that they are loved,” the association said in a press statement.
