Lipholo off to US on Kick4Life scholarship
MASERU – Kick4Life midfielder, Keketso Lipholo, will soon go to the United States on a fully-funded athletics scholarship to study while also pursuing his football career.
The 21-year-old star will be studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics at the William Jewell College in Missouri where he will remain for the next three years.
The talented youngster began playing football at the age of six on the dusty streets of Ha Thetsane before he joined the Kick4Life development side in 2016.
He will be joining the likes of Boitumelo Rabale, Senate Letsie, Lesia Thetsane, Mako Makoanyane and Morapeli Lesoetsa on the list of Kick4Life Athletic Scholarship beneficiaries.
Kick4Life FC media liaison Reitumetse Tlopo said Lipholo will be the sixth Mosotho footballer to benefit from this crucial opportunity.
He further showed that his organisation is currently sorting out logistical issues regarding Lipholo’s departure to the US.
Keke, as Lipholo is popularly called, has expressed his delight over this great break, promising to make the best of it.
He thanked Kick4Life for recognising the potential in him, adding that he will work hard to make everybody proud.
“I want to thank Kick4Life for this glorious chance they are giving me; I feel so humbled for this opportunity to further both my studies and my football career in the US; it’s a challenge that I really welcome.
“Kick4Life have played a major role in my development since I joined the side in 2016. Not only did I feel welcome, but I also met people who really care for me,” he said.
Kick4Life Country Director Motlatsi Nkhahle applauded the young footballer on his scholarship, adding he was hopeful that he will be a great ambassador of the team in the USA.
This, he said dovetails with the organisation’s mission of securing life-changing opportunities for young Basotho.
“We believe in using football to open opportunities for our youth. Lipholo has done well for himself and he deserves this break. We want to help develop future leaders who will bring international standards back home,” Nkhahle also said. – Kick4Life
