Maseru – Independent Zambia’s founding father and first President Kenneth Kaunda has died.

Kaunda who led Zambia from 1964 until he retired in 1991 was 97 years old.

Along with the late Tanzanian leader Julius Nyerere, Kaunda was very supportive of liberation movements that led to the independence of many Southern African states
