MASERU – Durban-based DSTV Premiership side Lamontville Golden Arrows on Monday unveiled Lehlohonolo Seema as their new head coach following the departure of Mandla Mcikazi who left the team to join Orlando Pirates two weeks ago.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lehlohonolo Seema as our new head coach. We wish him well in the position and look forward to the continuation of growth in the side,” the team said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende unveiled Seema without revealing the length of his contract. The team also unveiled the former club goal-minder Davies Phiri who will be heading their goal keeping department this season.

Davies played for the club from 2002 until 2006. “Welcome back to Abafana Bes’thende, we wish you well in your new position,” the Arrows statement reads. Phiri joins the club from Amazulu FC where he was heading the goalkeeping department.

Arrows completed the season on fourth position with 47 points, three points behind third-placed Orlando Pirates. Football fanatics took to social media platforms to share their sentiments about Seema’s move.

Motaung Suhlane congratulated Seema, saying he will surely be a great asset to the team. Another fan Musa Hudla said: “l think this is a good appointment. He did well at Bloemfontein Celtic with limited resources. He made a mistake of going to Chippa United and Black Leopards.

“He will do very well at Arrows especially. He needs players who are ball players who can fit in his philosophy. So we have ball players in abundance at Abafana Bes’thende,” he noted.

“Eish! I do not see him lasting in the team. He will be lucky to still be around until the end of 2021/22 season. But then again, what do I know, I am just a fan,” Linda Dlamini noted.

Dikano Tlali said: “May he find stability here because wow! he has been up and down.” “Darren Klerr was going to be a very beautiful coach of the team, however, congratulations to Seema,” Madumetja Shalas said.

Moeketsi Sebotsa congratulated Seema, saying his appointment is another chance for Lesotho players. The former Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic and Lesotho captain mentored three Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs before landing at Arrows, including Celtic, Chippa United and Black Leopards.

He joins Arrows after assisting Chippa United to retain their PSL status following their victory over Richards Bay and Royal AM in the promotion/relegation playoffs last week. Chippa United had earlier re-called Seema to assist them after they finished the 2020/2021 season on 15th position.
