MASERU - Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) awarded its loyal customers with great prizes including a brand new car last Friday.
The awarding event, held at the Victory Hall in Maseru, saw Easyway Public Bar owner ‘Masekonyela Molefi of Botha-Bothe district walk away with a brand new Nissan NP200.
The customer recognition drive, termed Ngatafatso – originally called Sengata, was intended for businesses selling alcohol which have become both faithful and grown in the business of buying and selling MMB products. The initiative saw 277 businesses pitted for the wins. The Ngatafatso event is an opportunity for the MMB to give back and honour MMB customers by awarding them with generous prizes categorized in three sectors being Gold, Silver and Bronze.
MMB Sales Manager, Paki Letšosa, explained that the company’s monthly customer performance calculations found that an average 88 percent of their customers purchased from MMB, with 91 percent of these beating the set purchases target at times.
The company expects 122 truckloads of alcoholic beverages to be sold monthly but at times customers surpass the limit and load out 133 trucks, Letšosa said. He further mentioned that while 50 would be participants did not qualify, the company was proud of the “72 who qualified for a gold and silver prize and 80 who qualified for Bronze.”
‘‘This year we tried to minimize the level of qualification for the competition as we were looking at businesses which already were pushing hard to do better. We wanted this competition to be a success by honouring the present participants,’’ Letšosa stated.
MMB maintains strict quality control measures to ensure that every batch of beer meets the set high standards of taste and safety and has received numerous awards for its products, highlighting its commitment to excellence in brewing.
Tebello Samosamo, alongside and Tsoakae Molupe who works at the MMB quality control department, assured booze lovers that MMB looks out for its consumers in quality. They also addressed the issue of handling the outlets and returnable bottles. Samosamo discouraged the improper handling empties (bottles after use) adding it hinders the production rate.
‘‘Contaminating the returnable bottles hinders production process as more time would be needed properly clean them for reuse. Let us not make it a norm to store the outlets containing the returnable outside as harsh weather conditions depreciate their lifespan.
I also discourage the idea of turning outlets into chairs and lastly the most important one please do return the returnable bottles after consumption as it is required,’’ he concluded.
The Bronze and Silver categories were both divided into two: Bronze Tavern and Public Bar, the Silver Tavern and Public Bar, for which the prize was a double door fridge filled with stock.
The lucky winners were Limpho Tavern, Thabang Lekoantlana Public Bar, Boitseko Tavern and Come & See Public Bar.
The grand prize for the Gold category – a Nissan NP200 – was raffled for a tavern in Matsieng – which was not present at the event – leading to Easy Way Public bar taking the coveted prize to Botha-Bothe.
Easy Way Public Bar was raffled second for the grand prize.
‘‘I am so speechless, you would not believe when I say I had zero interests in being part of this completion, if not only the MMB Sales Representative had not urged me to try my luck.
I believed I stood no chance at all. Luck came knocking at my door today, I am so grateful to MMB for this wonderful gift. It came at the moment I needed it the most,’’ Masekonyela said.
Sefako sa Menoaneng, led by locally acclaimed muso, Lebohang Letšohla, graced the event with a wonderful performance.
MMB began its journey in 1990’s providing quality beer to Basotho and has since grown significantly over the years.
The brewing company is committed to traditional brewing methods by combining old age methods with modern technology so as to produce high quality products hence it is favored both locally and in neighbouring countries.
