LERIBE – Telecommunications giant, Vodacom Lesotho, has been actively supporting educational initiates across the country through its community engagement unit. Last week Vodacom donated computer labs, Wi-Fi routers for early childhood education and also school shoes distributions in Leribe.
Linotšing High School was the grant beneficiary of a new computer lab an outfitted of high-performance desktop computers, internet access and interactive learning software aimed at helping students with essential digital skills to expand their learning horizons.
Vodacom Manager for External Affairs and Policy, Katleho Pefole, emphasized that Vodacom Lesotho strongly believes in the life-changing power of education adding that the lab is a concrete demonstration of “Vodacom’s commitment to support the government programmes to enhance learning through digital technology.”
‘‘We are confident that the computer lab will provide learners from Linotšing and neighbouring schools with invaluable access to digital resources, including virtual experiment and simulations, ultimately enriching their educational journey,’’ Pefole said.
Education ministry’s Ntsilo Pitso thanked Vodacom for the great gesture and urged the school and the community to take ownership of the new facility to ensure its long-term use.
‘‘We sincerely thank Vodacom Lesotho for this valuable donation, we wish them continued success. To the students my challenge is for you to fully embrace the use of this resources and graduate with vital digital skills that will empower you,’’ he stated.
Linotšing principal, ’Masakoane Mathaba, detailed how the lab which she noted was an invaluable investment in students’s future would help them advance the vision to succeed.
This she said, is at the core of why the telecom giant had come to their aid, to empower students through information communication and technology skills.
Mathaba extended an invite to neighbouring schools to visit and make use of the resource.
Excited Rapelang Tlali, on behalf of the students, expressed optimism that the lab “is indeed the hope that will brighten our future and we thank Vodacom for this incredible opportunity.”
These efforts underscore Vodacom Lesotho’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting youth development through the nation as initiatives like this one empowers students with essential digital skills for today’s tech-driven world, Tlali said.
