MASERU – LMPS FC unveiled Halemakale Mahlaha as its new head coach for the upcoming season at the Police Headquarters in Maseru. The appointment marks a homecoming for Mahlaha, a former LMPS FC player in the late 1990s who recently departed Matlama FC where he was coach. He replaces outgoing coach Tiisetso Molete.
Mahlaha will be supported by assistant coaches Galeboe Metso and Sheli Ramoseeka, and goalkeeper coach Selai Liphehlo. Speaking at the event, Mahlaha thanked LMPS Commissioner of Police for the opportunity and expressed confidence in the squad. “I know many of these high-quality players from previous work,” Mahlaha said.
“That familiarity means we won’t be starting from scratch, which will make implementing our tactics and philosophy smoother.” He emphasized his commitment to improving the club’s performance, citing his existing relationships with players as a key advantage. LMPS FC General Manager, Toka Matseletsele, voiced strong support for the appointment, highlighting Mahlaha’s deep ties to the club. “Mahlaha is not new to the LMPS FC family; I’ve known him for years,” Matseletsele said.
“We are happy he is back, and we actively worked to bring him home.” Mahlaha, who also coaches Lesotho’s Under-20 men’s national team, has signed a one-year contract. His return as a former player to lead the club raises expectations for a successful season, injecting renewed energy and ambition into LMPS FC’s campaign.
