Misa lauds Matjama’s diplomatic posting

Maseru- MISA Lesotho has today applauded its former secretary general and veteran journalist Thabang Matjama on his appointment as Lesotho`s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative to the United Nations office in Geneva.

In their statement, Matjama started work in the late 1990s and he between 2002 and 2013 performed different key roles within MISA Lesotho. He was selected secretary general for MISA Lesotho and later acted as national director of the organization, he also acted as information and research officer.

Matjama worked with a number of publications in his professional journey in journalism. He worked for a now non-operational Mopheme – The Survivor newspaper in the 1990s. He joined Public Eye in 2001 and concurrently served SABC`s Thobela FM as a correspondent.

After he left Public Eye in 2003, he freelanced for News24 and Kick-Off Magazine until 2006 and later as a stringer for the Agence France Presse and BBC correspondent in Lesotho until 2020, then he in 2013 worked with ama-Bhungane; a then investigative wing of Mail&Guardian when he left MISA Lesotho.
