MASERU – Disk jockeys and artistes want the government to allow them to resume their gigs so that they can resume earning a living.

This follows NACOSEC’s decision not to include the entertainment industry among the sectors to be allowed to operate normally.

Today armed police stopped a demonstration by the Deejays’ Association of Lesotho (DJALE) and the Lesotho Music Rights Association (LMRA) who were marching to NACOSEC offices

In an interview with Public Eye today Malefetsane Tsoeliane, one of the demonstrators, said they were not protesting but that the artistes and DJs had decided to go to town to advertise their music since the government through NACOSEC said they should sell their music using mobile sound systems.

He said DJs are appealing to the government to allow them work despite COVID-19 regulations because their work involves them being hired to perform on special occasions.
