Maseru – Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro yesterday urged the African Union to pursue development and shun wars, while also striving for a sustainable climate.
He was addressing the African Union Peace and Security Council meeting held virtually in Addis Ababa.
Majoro said trade and development are greatly dependent on peace in Africa, “Our people desire development not wars,” he said, adding that Lesotho advocates the right of people to self-determination.
Turning to climate issues which was another item of discussion, Majoro said sustainable peace and climate change in Africa are interlinked and to ensure future generations will be able to prosper in a hospitable environment where peace reigns, strategies for dealing with the issues are urgently needed.
