SOS and DHL ink agreement

MASERU – SOS Children’s Villages Lesotho and international logistics and shipping company, DHL, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding under the programme “GO Teach”.

The programme is the brain child of DHL and identifies strategic partners who involved with the education of socially disadvantaged children to give them an opportunity to learn. Training programmes and attachments are done throughout educational facilities and cooperative facilities to equip them with necessary skills to make them better leaders.

To date 70 children have been enrolled in the programme, with which the two partners have voiced intent to foster empowerment and employability of youth.

DHL intends to support SOS in broadening the local learning opportunities providing different levels of experiences to youth from SOS and families strengthening program through access to vocational training and other skills to enter in the working world.

“For us to have a partner like DHL unlocks a lot of opportunities to the youth, it will bring a lot of value by helping us bring together the youth, it means having less youth on the street” said SOS national director Sydwell Vushemakota at the signature of the agreement in Maseru on Friday.

On his part DHL country manager, Khethang Ramalefane, said: “The partnership and MOU strengthens the bond in terms of youth development, and we want to sustain them throughout, because we know that children from disadvantaged families do not have enough education, we want to give them exposure.”
