Maseru – The Minister of Small Business Development, Co-operatives and Marketing, Chief Thesele ’Maseribane will launch a platform called Sethala to facilitate dialogue between the Private and the Public sectors.

In a statement, ’Maseribane said he realised the private sector plays a big role as the backbone to the development of medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) as well as co-operatives. In most countries MSMEs and co-operatives contribute significantly towards job creation although those in Lesotho are faced with numerous challenges that hinder their growth and impact.

The challenges include: access to Finance; low productive capacity; access to national, regional, and international markets; policy initiatives; program activities; administration and regulatory issues; tax rates and licensing regulations.

Through the Sethala platform the ministry seeks to facilitate solemn, continuous discussions between the public and private sectors to discuss and resolve challenges faced by MSMEs and co-operatives.
