Silase sets-up educational Foundation

MASERU – International author and deputy director of the PLO Lumumba Foundation-Lesotho Chapter, Bothata Kennedy Silase, has set up a foundation – Duties and Powers: The Bothata Kennedy Silase Foundation.
The foundation is envisaged to help vulnerable and orphaned children with basic needs such as school fees, uniform, food and stationery.
According to Silase, it will further provide equal opportunities for education to people from different concessions, scholarships and assistance to children from poor, needy and deserving families and also to evolve systems of educational outreach programmes in rural and urban where clusters of low income groups exist.
“We intend to also establish educational institutions, primary, secondary and undergraduate level to provide quality education to the upcoming youth,” he said.
Furthermore, they will establish vocational training centres aimed at empowering men and women of weaker sections of society to become self-reliant, reducing their dependency on others; to have a programme for linking children with sponsoring families and individual corporate to provide them food, clothes, medical and financial assistance.
“To provide the youth with necessary skills on how to write documents needed in the contemporary world…and hopes to have a fixed office in due time.”
“I will officially launch the Foundation the day I will be launching my two books The Recoil 2: Days of the haunting past and Against All Odds. I have other trustees within the Foundation and some are my family members,” Silase continued.
He revealed that the Foundation will be funded through programmes that will seek donations from organizations so that it can be in position to do what is before us – without any hindrance.
“I started to working on this project when I realised how hard it can be to attend to some key needs in the educational sector for many education-loving children,” he added, continuing that “since every time I am confronted with the question ‘Which organisations represents these children since they require to legally register platforms which can really account on things.”
The 30-year-old Silase is an international author, a ghost-writer and speech-writer, orator and pan-Africanist. He is presently waiting to know how his book has fared in the 2021 Commonwealth Short Story Competition. Results are expected on May 1.
