Q-Real ups ante to go international

MASERU – Sekonyela Qaitsane Sekonyela, 26, well known as Q-Real Matsieng’s Finest says he visions going international in three years’ time form now.

Born in Ha Tshilo, Matsieng, Q-Real schooled at Tlouoe Primary and Matikoe High Schools (Ha Mantshebo). When he finished he then enrolled at the Institute of Extra Mural Studies (IEMS) where he obtained Diploma in Mass Communication graduating in 2018.

With his course of study, he worked as a journalist for a local weekly from 2017 (before finishing school) until 2020. He left the paper in July of 2021.

He is a U-REPORT Lesotho ambassador; a platform by UNICEF for children and youth to express their opinions about issues that impact their lives. Those opinions are being analysed and documented, such documentaries will be submitted to decision makers to be well informed about needs of children in Lesotho laws and policies are made for them.

It an international platform run by MISA Lesotho and Sentebale with the assistance of UNICEF locally. Besides being an artiste he is a serial entrepreneur.

“I am a founder of AG Clothing merchandise,” he says. Having aspired to become a musician from an early age, he broke into the music industry in 2017 releasing his debut single. He has since gone from strength to strength in the local music industry.

His debut album which is also his only to date dropped in August 2020. The 20-track project titled ‘Matsieng’s finest’ featured various household name artistes the likes of Lemeke Oa Mochini, Juvy Oa Lepimpara, Chereh Sputswe, Lu Srenk and Zinkz Dee who also doubles as producer.

In his album he blended different sounds that vary from Afro, hip hop and Famo among others. Due to his versatility, Q-Real prefers classifying himself as just a musician rather than identifying with a certain genre. He has recently announced his plans to release an EP in few months’ time.
